Hotel Indigo Chicago-Vernon Hills, an IHG Hotel

During my recent stay at Hotel Indigo in Vernon Hills, Illinois over the weekend, I encountered several issues that I would like to address. Firstly, we experienced a clogged sink in our room, which prompted us to seek water bottles for basic hygiene needs. Unfortunately, the pricing for these water bottles in the lobby was not clearly marked, leading to an unexpected expense. I also had an interaction with the night shift attendant who, regrettably, was not attentive to our presence. We waited at the counter for over 7 minutes while she was on the phone, and when she eventually inquired about our room number to charge them to our room. It became apparent upon checkout that the water bottles were priced at $7 each, resulting in an unexpected expense of over $50 that the front desk was unwilling to negotiate. Furthermore, I would like to express that the overall service at the hotel left much to be desired. While the property underwent a remodel, it appeared to be more of a cosmetic update rather than a substantial improvement in the overall experience. The pricing for various amenities also struck me as exorbitant, which was disappointing. It's worth noting that, despite these issues, the housekeeping staff stood out as the hardest working individuals within the hotel. They provided exceptional service, and their efforts were greatly appreciated. In conclusion, my stay at Hotel Indigo, while marred by some significant service and pricing concerns, was somewhat salvaged by the dedication and hard work of the housekeeping staff. I hope that the hotel can address these issues to enhance the overall guest experience.

Average experience. Room was clean which is most important to me and helped me overlook some of the other small issues such as 1 shared microwave in common area for all hotel guests and fact all ice machines were down so we had to go to lobby bar to request small bag of ice. Issues were not the end of the world. Not a bad stay for basic hotel needs.

I stayed this past weekend and overall the stay was good. The location is very convenient, the area is quiet, the staff were very welcoming, the breakfast was good, and the rooms were clean. My only complaint is that the hot water for the shower ran out extremely fast and the walls are very thin. At 6 in the morning I could hear others in the hallway and the opening and closing of their doors was very disruptive, because of how loudly it echoed. I could literally hear if someone turned their door knob, that’s how thin the walls are. However, my overall stay was good.

We booked 2 rooms for 3 nights visiting family over thanksgiving. The heater in one of the rooms never worked, never getting above 67 degrees in November. We reported this to the front desk 3 separate occasions to 3 different people. While they were apologetic and offered to switch rooms, we opted to keep the same room for convenience (rooms were adjoining, we were settled in, and only stayed there to sleep). The sink drain in the same room did not function properly. This was also reported & never addressed. We payed a lil more than our usual express hotel thinking it would be a lil nicer, but that was not the case. The hotel is older and has been remodeled but the updates are shoddy and cosmetic. We paid $32 for what other hotels would consider free continental breakfast (yogurt, sandwich, oatmeal) including $4 for a mini bagel. Upon check out we aired our complaints and were told the manager would give us a call, which never came. I have a bad feeling they will re-book this room with a broken heater and not blink an eye, just offer a different room if the guest complains. I would avoid this hotel.

This hotel had no convenient way to even get ice when we needed it. No microwave in room. No access to coffee or water on going like most hotels. Breakfast vouchers for food. Covered hardly anything. Not even a cup of coffee. Same rates for dogs one day or a week. Hardly seems fair. No bath or whirlpool only a shower I know for a fact there are much better family friendly hotels in the area. This is not one of them
